JCE Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files

Due to export/import regulations for very strong cryptography in some countries the standard Java Runtime Environment allows only for key lengths up to 128 bits. For example the Data Digester software contains cryptographic functionality (OpenPGP) with key lengths beyond 1024 bits. The Leisenfels software therefore is limited to key lengths of a maximum of 128 bits when downloaded and installed.

Additional files called Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files may be downloaded from the Oracle Inc. website to allow for unlimited key lengths. The download is for free currently. Please consult your attorney if you're unsure if installing the policy files is allowed in your country.

You can download the ZIP archives using the links listed below. A separate archive exists for each of the commonly used Java versions. The JAR files local_policy.jar and US_export_policy.jar from the ZIP archives need to be copied to the lib/security folder of the JRE installed on your computer. Please follow the instructions of the README file included in the archives.

If any of the links does not work or if you have any questions please contact us.
